photography affords immortality.

So who am I and what's the 'why' behind my artwork?

I have a mission to show others how to face their pain and see themselves for who they really are.

I developed this mission from facing my own debilitating pain every month dealing with Endometriosis for over 17 years.  There was one month, the pain was so intense that I passed out and died– I was completely powerless and felt complete surrender.   After dying, I knew that I needed to really face this and could no longer hide or be embarrassed by it if I wanted to truly live.  I realized I needed to see myself for who I really was and face all of the areas in my life where I had been inauthentic.

I then began to unravel all of the medical lies I had believed and educated myself on how women’s hormones actually work and healed myself. I remember the first day I felt freedom was on my wedding anniversary. I looked around the Hilton hotel room and the shackles just literally fell off as I got present to the fact that I had minimal to no pain in my life with my intimacy, sex, and every month with my cycle.

What I learned through my experience is that all healing starts with being authentic, which is why I encourage others to face their pain.

My experience inspired me to actually live my art, so I created an ongoing art series about it called, Every Phase, where I powerfully illustrate how I healed myself as I live by the phases of the female cycle infradian rhythm clock in contrast to the masculine, 24-hour clock or 'everyday' lifestyle.

The artwork shows what's happening in the brain and the body during each phase and reveals how to biohack & leverage this energy in your life. This series was inspired by and also serves as a direct response to NFT artist beeple's $70 million 'Everydays' project:  I decided to create a piece of art from start to completion not every day, but every phase that will continue for the next 13 years.

I am actually living the art, so this series is about way more than just healing.  The writing + pieces discuss truth, freedom & our current healthcare & financial system slavery -- and the way out.

I have self-published the first year of this series as a printed art book with Augmented Reality (AR) interaction.  The award-winning book captures the first year and I have very appropriately titled it, Face Your Shit, Heal Yourself.

In addition to the book, I have also created an accompanying podcast (same name: Face Your Shit, Heal Yourself or #FYSHY) to help other women dealing with 'chronic' pain and hormonal imbalances by introducing some of the experts and practices that helped me achieve what I thought was impossible.

This isn't just a project, but a #FYSHY movement. Check out the brief video below to learn more.

To read my full story, check out my About page as well as my Every Phase Gallery below & subscribe to follow the series as I create through each phase.

In addition to my Every Phase series that will continue until 2033, I have 5 additional visual journeys I have curated, with each body of work to be explored in the galleries & collections below:

Upon completion of my Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) & my Masters (MA) from SCAD-Atlanta, I invented my own photographic process with scanography. The process I developed started as a mockery of digital photography because I was so pissed about the digital 'takeover'. It also served as a technical tool to help express some of the concepts my work centered around with ballet which was a huge part of my life growing up. When I decided to make work about my experience in the world of ballet, I thought of the contradicting ideas of degradation, restriction, and freedom. Being constrained by the scanner for these projects, as well as the degrading aspects of digital manipulation, I was able to translate the ‘aesthetic experience’ of ballet into a degraded, virtual one. This allowed people to see a perspective from someone on the inside looking out, instead of the outside world trying to look inward. I wanted the subject to become the ‘negative’ which related to these ideas technically and conceptually.

You can view examples of the scanography process I created dispersed throughout my work, but specifically concentrated in my 'Things I've left Behind''Scanography Soul Portraits' and 'The Ballerina' Galleries.

In older forms of photography, the glass served as the negative, or served as the transfer medium sometimes with paper positives, etc. I created a unique scanography process where I turned a scanner into a camera.  The subject becomes similar to a film "negative" and the image is flattened through digital degradation with a portable wand of light.

The process I invented started as a mockery of digital photography because I was so pissed about the digital 'takeover'. It also served as a technical tool that allowed me to expand on the foundations of photography and experiment with its role in the digital world.  The portrait process involves the subject entering a scanning 'booth' or pressing up against the glass in order to achieve focus & depth.  The speed at which I move the scanner on the glass and the different combinations of light are a nod to my early teachings of photography as the simple scientific and artistic combination of two things: light and time.

All of my works are limited editions + originals.  I create only 13 editions of any single piece. Or just one.

When you hear your friend ask, what should I hang here?  Refer them to me so they can write their own visual story and start creating their reality rather than facing it.

Instead of a percentage of my sales going to an art gallery or museum, I have chosen to give 13% (why number 13? read here) of all my profits to Operation Underground Railroad every month to end child trafficking.  I have created a fundraiser goal to raise $13,000 by October 13th, 2024.  Donate + Learn more here.

Because God's children aren't for sale + Human Trafficking doesn't get to perpetuate in a world I'm in.  When you purchase art or any of my services, you are helping this mission & our humanity.
